Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! THIS LISTING IS FOR A BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE MEIJI PERIOD JAPANESE SATSUMA PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON GILT DECORATED BOWL IN THE "1000 FLOWERS" DESIGN , SIGNED, c. 1880. THIS HIGH QUALITY MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912) SATUMA BOWL IS BEAUTIFULLY PAINTED WITH POLYCHROME ENAMELS ON A GILDED BACKGROUND. THE PATTERN IS CALLED "1000 FLOWERS" DUE TO THE ASSORTED FLOWERS THAT DECORATE THE ENTIRE SURFACE OF THE BOWL. THE WHITE FLOWERS HAVE "JEWELED" PETALS. THE TOP EDGE OF THE BOWL IS SLIGHTLY SCALLOPED WITH "PINCHED" AREAS AT THE END OF EACH SCALLOP AND A GILDED RIM. MEASURES 1 3/4" HIGH WITH A TOP DIAMETER OF 4 7/8" AND A BASE DIAMETER OF 2 5/8". WEIGHS 7.5 OUNCES. THE CONDITION IS EXCELLENT WITH NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR REPAIRS. UNIDENTIFIED MARK ON BASE.
