Featuring simple, primitive lines, it was probably designed as a toggle button, or pendant decoration - possibly an amulet, effigy or fetish. Condition is wonderful - I believe it is a Salamander or Lizard - back is scored to mimic skin and eyes appear to be baleen - tail is pierced for hanging.
