Description: DESCRIPTION: Wonderful hand painted copy of a portion of the painting "Madonna of the Goldfinch" by Renaissance painter Raphael. I believe the original is in the Uffizi Gallery in FLorence. This remarkable copy depicts the Madonna's head from the original painting and becomes a lovely portrait. It is done in gouache on artists board and measures approximately 8 x 10". It is not signed on the front. It is framed in a period embossed wood frame with grape vine designs to a finished size of about 11 x 13". There is a framing sticker on back from Philip Wurtz Art Dealers in St. Louis on back. I would guess this dates to the early 1900s. The painting is in very good condition with a small mark about her left shoulder (minor, but see second to last picture). The frame has some scuffs and scratches to the finish and slight gaps at the corners (see last picture for examples).
