Antique Etched Metal Tower Of London In Gesso Oval Frame Matted 11"Hx9"W

Description: Antique metal etched Tower Of London scene is framed in an oval wood gesso frame.Outside dimensions of frame: 11" H x 9" W x 1.5" D. Inside dimensions of matted art: 5.25" H x 4" W.It weighs 1 pound 5.1 ounces.The artwork appears like an etching and is made of metal or foil and has a silvery and black finish. It couldbe embossed. There is a signature on the bottom right hand side (fifth photo). The art is matted in black.The frame itself is a lovely but aged oval gesso covered wood frame with black and cream color. The paper onthe back is cracked from age and is just hanging on by a piece of tape (third photo). The frame was made bythe Hope Picture Frame Company in Detroit, Michigan (tenth photo). The company was in business from 1946 to1983. We were told this framed art was made around 1949 to 1950.There are chippy distressed areas all around the front edge of the frame. Crunched areas on the front edge of the frame at twelve o'clock, one o'clock, six o'clock, and 7 o'clock. (sixth, seventh, and eighth There is also a crunched area in the gesso toward the back of the frame at 6 o'clock (ninth photo). Hanger at top is offset and has signs of rust (last photo). The brown paper is tearing off from the back and is hanging by a small piece of tape (third photo). The glass is in very good condition with no cracks. There is a tiny piece of a paint chip under the glass (seventh photo). It can be removed by taking the back off. Will leave that up to the Buyer. This would make a great restoration project!
