Antique Double Fusee "Arnold & Frodsham" Bracket Clock.

Description: A stunning mahogany and brass inlaid bracket clock by the premier makers "Arnold & Charles Frodsham". The twin fusee 5 pillar circular movement on chains of 8 day duration is of the very highest quality. It has anchor escapement and strikes the half and full hours on a gong with a sweet soft mellow tone. It has a London style adjustable pendulum with its holdfast screw. The back plate is beautifully engraved "Arnold & Charles Frodsham The Strand. The mahogany case is brass inlaid with ring handles, fish scale side frets and stands on ball and claw feet with a pineapple finial. Measuring 16 inches high[42cm] x 9.5 ins wide[24cm] x 7 ins deep[18cm]. The 5.5 inch gilt brass dial is very finely engraved and is signed to the left and right of the 12 o'clock . It has the original blued steel "heart" hands. The glass is beveled and in perfect order. The clock comes with a later bracket but fits perfectly and displays really well. Arnold died in 1843 and subsequently Charles Frodsham purchased his workshop and for a time signed both names on his very best clocks. I would date this one to the middle 19c. The case is in fabulous condition having been restored some years ago with all brass inlay intact and with a lovely colour and patina.
