Description: Offered for your consideration is an antique C.L. Berger Model 2T Surveyor's Transit, in it's original wooden box. The name plate shows 2T - 2002. C.L. Berger & Sons was an instrument manufacturing company in Boston, Massachusetts which operated from 1898-1947. It produced "Engineers' and Surveyors' Instruments of Precision". I have not been able to date this model exactly but it appears to be circa 1930's. Condition - Generally, very good.Box - Wood with dovetail joints. Intact and strong, with good original leather handle. The exterior is quite weathered.Transit - Very Good original with no apparent damage. All adjustments seem to work smoothly. The two spirit levels have fluid, bubbles, and appear functional. Has original sheet metal lens cap.
