Description: Here's a beauty, an original old butcher tape wet dispenser. It still has it's great old water slip decals attached, a bit of a feat because these devices would get washed once in a while. It measures just under a foot long and with the roll of tape installed, 5 2/4" tall. It's in remarkably good shape with it's plum coloured hammer finish paint and the brush is intact and in excellent condition. I don't think this got used much. It must be 80 years old or more. So, the tape came off the roll and was passed under the small silver roller seen in the base of the machine. Then it came forward, under the roll but it would not interfere because they were both moving in the same direction. It then passed up through the two chromed plates, under the top plate and over the thumb rollers. Then it was spit out across the wet brush that was kept wet by it's base sitting in a reservoir of water. When you wanted tape, you pulled it out across the brush and tore it straight up, the top plate tearing it cleanly. When it was time for another piece, just roll your fingers or thumb across the three small rollers with the tape laying on it and it again poked out across the brush. You would only have to replace the water in the reservoir every few days and wash the brush once in a while. A model of efficiency. It weighs in at a whopping 2.6 kilos or 5lbs 9oz. That weight ensured one-handed operation. This dispenser is in very nice shape and the hammer finish paint is a colour I haven't seen all that often. Green and gray are much more common. Anyway, if you're doing a store display or simply want to have one to use, this might be the one. Lots of people butcher and pack wild game and of course you can still buy butcher paper.
