Description: This canning jar is made of blue glass. A glass disk is fitted into the top as a lid and is held in place with a zinc or other type of metal collar. The base is square with rounded corners. The jar measures approximately 7 1/2 inches tall to the top of the lid and about 4 x 4 inches across the bottom. Any spots in the photos are just camera flash glare. The underside is marked with "100" as shown in the photos. Although not marked, the style of this canning jar suggests that it might be French in origin. Overall and other than as noted, this canning jar is in good condition with no chips, cracks, stains, etc. It could use a more thorough cleaning. There is a long straw or mold mark running the length of the jar in one corner; this would seem to be something that happened during the manufacturing process. There are tiny bubbles, swirls, lines and the like, as would be expected from a piece of this nature. The zinc collar has developed a dark and complex patina or is discolored with age, depending on your perspective. The photos provide a good indication of the condition.
