Description: Up for sale is an antique mid 19th C original theorem style watercolor painting of violets or pansies, on laid paper and in a contemporary 20th century frame with contemporary acid free mat. This was recently found at auction in Lancaster County PA. The paint is applied thickly - almost in a mixed media, guache or theorum style. But a lovely rendering of Johnny Jump Ups or some small violet or pansy. The glass is dirty, has something dripping down it. There are losses to the frame from being moved and stored unprotected, can touch it up with gold leaf rub-n-buff we believe, then a couple pen marks to distress. Lovely rendering.Picture ~7" x 9". Overall size of glass approx 11x13 with overall outside frame size approx 11.75 x 13.75". Best guess the framing was done within the last 20 years.Well done folk art painting.
