Description: Antique 1925 Gustav Becker Oak Mantle Clock. Firstly I should say I am not an expert but I’ll describe this as best I can! The clock appears to be working and chiming! Im presuming it probably needs a little clean. There is no key. When the hands are moved manually, it chimes at quarter to and quarter past the hour. I believe the chime pendulum needs adjusting in its position as it seems to improve the ring of the chime when pushed back slightly. The pendulum swings and makes the clock tick but only until it stays still. The case is oak with barley twist columns to the front and a brass bezel. The face fits securely. Inside the opening glass, on the actual face, there are two tiny panel pins missing. The door on the back has a button push but I’m not sure if a little knob is missing. It’s easily opened at the bottom on the door but thought I’d mention. The mechanism appears to be clean with movement in accessible parts. There are makers marks on the base. The clock has been presented by the officers and constables of the Southern Bucks Division Constabulary to Sergeant Alfred Cooper on his retirement in 1925 which dates the clock perfectly! The case is in exceptionally good condition without splits in the wood. Lovely patina. I’m sure the brass would improve with a clean! Dimensions: Widest point: 24.5cm Height: 24cm Depth: 12.4cm If I can help with any further information, please let me know. The clock can be posted (with padding around all the moveable parts) or collected from me in Cookham Dean, SL6 9NX.
