Description: Antique 18K Gold Skeletonized Quarter Repeater Verge Fusee Pocket Watch. France, 1820 Antique 18K-gold skeletonized quarter repeater verge fusee pocket watch, made in France in 1820 and in very good condition. The case includes a rear cap, open face and coin edge case barrel. There is a solid gold ball pendant and round bow placed at the twelve position. The rear cap is made of polished and solid gold. On the interior of this piece we can see the case numbers, a diamond shaped cameo with 'CC' and a crown for the casemaker. There is also a part human, part mammal winged creature in an octagon shaped cameo, a French hallmark from 1819-1838 for 18K gold. The solid silver dial has enameled black Roman hours and closed outer minute track, with silver guilloche work around the periphery of the dial. The large round aperture in the dial center reveals the repeating work and the fusee chain. The watch mounts steel Continental Spade hands. As for the movement, it is made of gilt-brass parts with skeletonized and foliate engraved balance bridge, going barrel, chain-fusee driven, verge escapement with steel escape wheel, plain steel three-arm balance with flat balance spring and silver regulator, repeating on coiled steel gongs quarterly with hammers activated by a push button in the band.
