Description: Beautiful little antique porcelain cup and saucer from the Dresden decorating shop ofRichard Klemm. Though the porcelain was not produced in Dresden, it was the painting studios that made Dresden Porcelain so well known all over the world. Richard Klemm's studio (founded in 1869) was one of the first to register the Dresden blue crown mark, along with three other studios, in 1883. The mark that is found on these two pieces bear the blue crown and "RK Dresden Germany".The hand painted cup and saucer feature a matching large flower spray with pink, yellow and blue flowers on one side of the cup and saucer, and matching smaller single flowers on the other side of the cup and half of the saucer. The saucer has a scalloped edge, and both pieces have a spiral twist and are edged in a painted gold swag. The style is from the Art Nouveau period and is in the Meissen or Vienna style thatDresden Porcelain is known for.Both pieces are in very nice antique condition with no chips, cracks or loss of the vibrantcolors. There may be slight gold wear. The saucer measures 5 1/2" in diameter, the cupmeasures 2 3/4" tall and 2 3/4" in diameter.
