Description: This antique Waltham pocket watch from 1887 with a gorgeous 18kt gold and enamel case will add a touch of elegance to any collection. The watch was made in the USA in Waltham, Massachusetts. The case was made in Birmingham, England (the AB mark shown up close in the 13th picture is for Alfred Bedford, the English manager for Waltham, as many Waltham watches were imported to England. These cases were made by the Denison Watch Case Co. of Birmingham. With a mechanical (manual) movement and 13 jewels, this watch is a true vintage gem. The white dial and analog display make it easy to read, while the seconds hand adds a unique touch. The watch face is displayed by depressing the knob, which pops open the front and this mechanism works well. The next to the last two pictures are from the 'Waltham historical site', and show this actual watch movement was made between March & May 1887. It is a Royal movement, Model 1873. You can see all the specifications for this particular watch. Waltham did not make cases at this time, only the movements. The last picture shows the outer diameter of the watch to be very close to 1 1/2 inches. The watch weighs slightly more than 67.5 grams. The watch is not currently running. The initials JL are for my grandfather James Little.
