A finely carved boxwood statue, with expressive downward closed eyes, skilfully delineated rib cage, wearing a perizonium tied just behind the hip. The figure's feet resting on a small plinth, the body with a deep patina. Lacking arms.The figure probably would have originally been mounted on a cross, now with a metal screw attached to the back to allow hanging on a wall. Dimensions: Length: 27.5 cm or 11 inches Weight: 226 grams Condition: In good antique condition, with expected age cracks and well executed restoration towards the bottom of the legs.
