Description: This intricately carved Anri figurine portrays a little girl sewing a patch on her beloved teddy bear. This is a Sarah Kay limited edition of 449 out of 4000 produced. Sarah Kay was a housewife in a suburb of Sydney, Austraiia. She was always fond of drawing and sold some of her artwork to a greeting card publisher. The work was a group of renderings depicting her own children and their pets, performing everyday tasks in their rural home setting. Sarah took artistic license to portray them in a dress of a much earlier, perhaps gentler time. The overwhelming popularity of Sarah Kay’s original drawings led them to the studios of ANRI in the secluded Village of St. Christina, high in the Italian Dolomites. There, master wood-carver Ulrich Bernardo studied and recreated Sarah’s adorable children. The artist’s love for art and her own children blends with Ulrich Bernardi’s passion for woodcarving to create “Country Memories”. Precious hand carved, hand painted sculptures that represent the simplicity and unspoiled happiness of children at work and play. The turn-of-the-19th century farm style of their dress reminds us of a pleasant time in history, when children played and worked hard and made strong bonds with friends, family and their pets.
