Description: This bronze Seljuk bottle is circa 10th century A.D. and comes from a NYC collection where it was acquired in the 1960s. It is cast bronze with heavy design throughout the body. The piece is a little under 7.5" tall. During its useful life, this piece might have been used as a dispenser for rose water or other aromatics given the vessel's shape. The Seljuk empire was a medieval Turkish empire found in Anatolia (sometimes called Asia Minor). They ruled parts of the Middle East and Central Asia during the 11th to 14th centuries.
