The detailing on the bronze is superb and is realistically modeled as can be seen in the close up photographs. The bronze bird is beautifully modelled with it’s head turned, beneath one wing. The bronze is on an rectangular marble base which sets it off nicely. The bronze is unsigned but is in the manner of Jules Moigniez. Jules Moigniez (28 May 1835 – 29 May 1894) was a French animalier sculptor who worked during the 19th century. His output was primarily cast in bronze and he frequently exhibited his sculptures at the Paris Salon. He was best known for his bronzes depicting birds, although his skill and versatility enabled him to produce quality horse sculptures (primarily racehorses), dog sculptures and hunting scenes. His bird sculptures were among the finest ever created in his time DIMENSIONS: The approximate MAXIMUM dimensions (including the marble base) are: 14.5 cm wide x 9.5 cm deep x 14.5 cm high.
