READ MORE BELOW ON THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE GEMSTONE/SYMBOLS/COLORS ~ -------------------------- AFRICAN CROSS OF LIFE ANKH ~ created by Africans long ago; said to be the first, oldest, original cross; represents water, air and the sun – the providers and preservers of life in ancient African cultures; this symbol for Spirit and for Life refers to the inner spiritual “cosmic life force presence of God” alive in all real things; the symbolic expression of the Divine True Self or the soul of an individual. EYE OF HORUS ~ also known as the Wedjat or Udjat, it is depicted as a stylized eye with distinctive markings. The eye is believed to have protective magical power, and as a concept and symbol in ancient Egyptian religion, it represents well-being, healing, and protection. The symbol was subsequently adopted by the people of regions neighboring Egypt, such as Syria, Canaan, Nubia and Africa. Its imagery derives from the mythical conflict between the god Horus with his rival Set, in which Set tore out or destroyed one of Horus's eyes and the eye was subsequently healed with the assistance of another deity, Thoth. Horus subsequently offered the eye to his deceased father Osiris, and its revivifying power sustained Osiris in the afterlife. The Eye of Horus was thereafter equated with funerary offerings in temple ritual. PAN-AFRICAN FLAG ~ is also known as the Afro-American flag, Black Liberation flag, UNIA flag, Marcus Garvey, Universal African, and Black Nationalist flag among other names. The flag consists of three equal horizontal bands of Red, Black and Green. It was first officially adopted by the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League in 1920. The UNIA-ACL, was founded by Jamaican Marcus Garvey. It later became popular as an emblem of Black pride during the Black Liberation movement of the 1960s. The profound significance of the colors have symbolized a host of deeply felt associations. Most recently, according to the UNIA, the three colors of the flag represent: RED: the blood that unites all people of Black African ancestry, and shed for liberation; BLACK: black people whose existence as a nation, though not a nation-state, is affirmed by the existence of the flag; and GREEN: the abundant natural wealth of Africa.... The meaningful and representative uses of these three colors are interchangeable with Black Power, Freedom, Justice and Liberation and are used in flags and other emblems of various nations and territories in Africa and the Americas to represent Pan-Africanist ideology. Natural wear and tear will also affect your jewelry. By following these simple tips, however, you can maintain your jewelry’s beauty for as long as possible: > DO NOT GET YOUR BRACELET WET ~ Keep your jewelry away from moisture. It is best to remove your bracelet before washing your hands, showering, exercising and swimming since contact with moisture can break down the elastic, ruin finishes and tarnish metals and charms. > AVOID CONTACT WITH CHEMICALS ~ Perfume, soap, moisturizer, lotion, hand sanitizer or other chemicals can weaken the elastic, harm natural crystals and result in the discoloration and peeling of beads and gemstones. > AVOID HEAT EXPOSURE ~ Leaving your bracelet in sunlight or exposed to heat for an extended period of time may lead to elastic erosion and can cause beads and metal to discolor. Remove your bracelet while exercising.> ROLL IT ON AND OFF ~ Do not over-stretch your bracelet! It has been made with pre-stretched elastic. Over-stretching it beyond its capacity will cause it to break.
