Adventure Comics #485 DC Comics signed by George Perez

Description: This is an amazing Adventure Comics #485 "Dial 'H' For Hero" published by DC Comics (1981) during the Bronze Age comic (1970-83) era. This single issue comic book features the teenage superhero team "Dial 'H' for Hero" and is a first edition, bagged, boarded and signed by the incredible George Perez (artist) with a witnessed & notarized Certificate of Authenticity (COA). The comic is in 8.0 Very Fine (VF) @ 75% Near Mint (NM) market price and is a perfect collectors item for children and young adults who love action, superheroes, adventure, supernatural, teen, and science fiction genres. The comic features the cumulative effort of renowned artists/writers like Marv Wolfman, Frank Chiaramonte, Larry Mahlstedt, Carmine Infantino, Dennis Jensen and cover art by George Perez. It is a must-have collectible for fans of any of George Perez's work; though it's a Very Fine rather than Near Mint piece, it is still a quite rare and precious item that will make a great addition to any collection.George Pérez (June 9, 1954) was an incredible comic book artist and writer from the South Bronx, New York City. He began his professional career as an artist assistant to Rich Buckler (1973) working for Marvel Comics. His 1st professional work was an untitled two-page satire of Buckler's character Deathlok (Tales to Astonish #25 (Aug. 1974) ). He soon became a Marvel regular; working primarily as a penciller. He came to prominence due to his rendering of The Avengers (beginning with #141). DC Comics attempted to recruit George while he was still drawing The Avengers ( Marvel) by offering him the art chores for the re-launch of The New Teen Titans (writer Marv Wolfman). However, his real incentive was for the opportunity to draw Justice League of America. As fortune would have it, the long-time Justice League artist Dick Dillin had recently passed away, thus providing an opportunity for Pérez to step in as regular artist. His incredible work on the JLA was popular with fans, but it was his attention to detail in both script and artwork on The New Teen Titans that received the most fan appreciation. This "New Teen Titans" was actually launched in DC Comics Presents #26 (as a special preview (October 1980)). This incarnation of the Titans was DC's attempt to rival the X-Men (Marvel), and it became highly successful. He backed away from the New Teen Titans to focus on a new and very exciting project with Marv Wolfman, DC's 1985 50th-anniversary event, Crisis on Infinite Earths. A major draw for him to the project was the unique opportunity to be able to pencil every single character DC owned, in a story which not only radically restructured the DC universe's continuity but shattered the multi-verse. He inked Curt Swan's pencils for the final issue of Superman (issue #423 (September 1986)). This was for part one of the two-part story "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" by writer Alan Moore a wrap up of the former Earth-1 Superman. He and Wolfman came together again with a History of the DC Universe limited series (2 issues) to summarize the revised history of the DC Universe Post-Crisis. All of the DC Universe of characters were given "new" or altered origins due to the convergence of the multiverse into the single universe. Not only was George a key player in the Crisis saga but he would also play a key role in the Wonder Woman franchise reboot (1987). Pérez joined the team of Greg Potter (writer) & Janice Race (editor) several months after the inception to hammer out the new concepts for the character and incredible artwork for which the early issues are so well known and collected. The three were all Inspired by John Byrne (Superman: the Man of Steel mini-series) and Frank Miller (Batman: the Dark Knight Returns). Pérez was brought in as the plotter and penciller of the series and tied the character more closely to the Greek gods and was able to jettison many other elements of her history due to the "Crisis. George returned to the recently re-christened New Titans (#50) as co-plotter/penciller and did a rewrite to the origin of Wonder Girl (again due to Crisis on Infinite Earths). He continued as penciller or layouts (#55-61) with artists Tom Grummett (finishing pencils) and Bob McLeod (inker). This was an important story-line "A Lonely Place of Dying" as it crossed over into the Batman series and introduced Tim Drake (co-created by Perez) as the new Robin.I knew George personally during the 90's and I drifted away from the comics that I loved so much to raise a family and was truly heart broken when my friend died on May 6, 2022, due to complications from pancreatic cancer. He was the most gregarious of men always with a smile and firm handshake and asking of my well being at every meeting. A friend calls you by name...... he was George ... & I- Paul.
