Description: Measures 8-13/32" X 10-29/32", 76 pp including covers, b&w photos and illustrations, Volume 1, Number 1 (January 1964), published by SMP Publishing Ltd. (NY). While JUDY HENSKE is pictured on the cover (along with Will Holt, Oscar Brand, Theodore Bikel, The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, The Chad Mitchell Trio, Josh White, Odetta, etc), I don't believe she is mentioned anywhere else in this magazine. This was a very, VERY short-lived magazine (I have just been informed of a third issue; but the show lasted only about 1-1/2 years, so it's hard to imagine any issues beyond the third), and was largely ignored by most of the folk music community, as it was published in conjunction with the much-reviled ABC-TV HOOTENANNY television program (1963-1964). Because Pete Seeger had been blacklisted from the program, some performers refused to appear, while other performers needed the exposure and agreed to perform. It was a strange hodge-podge of the folk and the fake, and this magazine is definitely an example of how "hootenannies" were misunderstood.
