Description: A GARRISON TANGLE by Captain Charles King 1896, First Edition, F. Tennyson Neely, New York, 280 pages. A First Edition of one of General Charles King’s novels. A West Point graduate, Class of 1866, he commanded a cavalry troop against the Apaches in 1874 where he was severely wounded and forced to retire from active duty. However he continued his service in the Wisconsin National Guard and when the Spanish-American War began in 1898 he was appointed Brigadier General of volunteers and commanded a brigade in Lawton’s division in the Philippines. He continued in service until his death in 1932. “A Garrison Tangle” is a gripping tale of love, loyalty, and betrayal set against the backdrop of the American West. In a small garrison town in the American West, an young Army officer is tasked with keeping the peace, but is caught in a web of political intrigue and personal drama. Hardcover book in Very Good condition, tight and clean with no marks. Pages are clean and white; hinges are sound. Blue covers with gilt titles on the spine and red on the front with a pictorial design on the front are bright and clean; minor wear at corners and spine ends; spine and top edge are sun darkened.
