February 6, 2009 The Trapline Mole Trap is a newly designed and patented professional model mole trap featuring: *Compact but powerful torsional mechanism--fits inside mole runs. Brings a quick and humane, but very certain death to the two most widely distributed mole species in North America, the Western Broad Footed Mole(Scalopanus latimanus) and the Eastern Mole(Scalopus aquaticus). A 1/4 inch wider version of the trap has proven very effective against the slightly larger European Mole (Talpa europaea), and this slightly larger version of the trap will be sent to purchasers in Europe. These traps are not tested on other species of moles, but should work on similar sized moles. They may not be effective on larger, rarer species such as the Townsend's Mole. These traps are also effective against voles(field mice) when they are traveling in underground tunnels. * All stainless steel construction-unlike other mole traps, these traps will not lose power or trigger sensitivity due to rust. They will provide many years of use. *Trap comes with detailed setting instructions Many mole traps out there on the market including the Out-o-Sights and Spear traps made by Victor, and the Easy-Set Mole Eliminator are relatively large powerful devices designed to capture or kill moles through the dirt. They must have powerful springs in order to accomplish this, and that makes the traps difficult and dangerous to set, and also greatly reduces trigger sensitivity, making the traps less effective. These traps are rarely effective in the hands of inexperienced users, as their "through the dirt" type of mechanism requires a fairly difficult setup. You have to cut paths through the dirt for the arms or tines to pass freely, make "speed bumps" in the moles path in order for force the mole against the trigger of the trap, and despite your best efforts, because the moles don't trigger these traps directly, many moles will pass through your sets without triggering the traps. The Trapline Mole Trap is a very small compact design that slides into the mole tunnel, and is triggered directly by the mole as it attempts to pass through its tunnel. No complex setup or placement is necessary, simply dig open a mole run, and place the set trap into the tunnel. Trapline Mole Traps work--see pictures below.
