Description: This is a polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a pair of large beetles with a nice looking Tipulid fly, a small true bug, a group of 8 flies and a portion of a grass blade from the Cretaceous Period, all from a time when dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops were on the Earth. Geological studies have dated Burmite amber to be around 100 million years old. The piece itself weighs 3.4 grams with approximate dimensions of 3.2 cm length by 1.6 cm width and 0.9 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.Please see my feedback. I have been selling amber fossils for over 15 years on eBay and do not sell fake amber only genuine material from now extinct plant sources not glass or plastic embedded with present day inclusions. This piece is genuine amber formed over millions of years of polymerization.Burmese (Burmite) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs. However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink.
