Description: LISTED HERE 2 RARE HISTORICAL MOUNTED WAR MAPS Deception prior to El Alamein, 21-23 October 1942 Prior to the battle of El Alamein (Operation.lightfoot'), in order to fool enemy reconnaissance and intelligence operations, the Eighth Army put in place a number of decption plans. At their most basic, these plans saw lorries disguised to look like tanks, false gun emplacements and tanks disguised as motor vehicles (`Sunshields' and `Cannibals'). On the day of the attack, and during the battle, there were feint attacks and diversions. These maps show the extent of the deception operations.
