Description: Offered is the vintage two-volume set of books "George Washington-A Biography", written by Douglas Southall Freeman and published in 1948 by Charles Scribner's Sons in New York. These are "A" printings of the first edition and cover Washington's life up to approx. age 27. (Freeman wrote additional volumes that were published later.) There are numerous black and white illustrations, many full-page on glossy paper and some within the text. Each book is approx. 9 1/4" x 6 1/4". Volume One contains 549 and Volume Two contains 464 pages, including appendix and index. Both are in very good condition. The black hard covers have very little wear, with some light marks from handling, the gold words on the spines still shiny. There is no cracking inside either the front or back cover of either volume. The map endpapers are clean, but have slightly yellowed. I see no missing or torn pages and all of the pages are well-attached to the bindings. They have yellowed slightly but are otherwise clean and clear. I see no writing in either book. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions. I will do my best to answer them! Please take a moment to look at some of the other items in my eBay store!
