Description: For The Baseball Hobbyist... 1977 SERTOMA STARS Puzzle Back card [#25] - Early Wynn, Cleveland Indians & longtime member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame Scarce Midwest Regional Card distributed at 1977 Indianapolis Convention This scarce regional issue was released nearly 40 years ago in connection with the 1977 Indianapolis Sports Collectors Convention. The card was part of an interesting set featuring some of the game's all-time greats as well journeymen of the past and distant past. SERTOMA (SERvice TO MAnkind), the men's service organization, was sponsor of the cards which remind oldtime collectors of the 1935 Goudey 4-on-1's/puzzle backs (American Card Catalog R321). This card measures approximately 2-3/4" by 4-1/8" and features SERTOMA's logo prominently in the upper left above the player's picture. It is unnumbered although collectors have assigned numbers based upon checklisting the set alphabetically. The sepia back represents one piece of a puzzle picturing the 1913 Pittsburgh Pirates team. Collecting Tip: This unconventionally sized card fits easily in standard postcard size sheets and top-loader holders.
