The Nolan Ryan card is one of two key Hall of Famer rookie cards in the set, along with Johnny Bench. That same year, three other versions of the same card were produced - Milton Bradley, O-Pee-Chee and Venezuelan Topps released their own Nolan Ryan rookie cards. All three are tougher to find than the traditional Topps Ryan, but the Topps #177 card is the one that has the most appeal. HOF Nolan Ryan: Nolan Ryan is one of the greatest pitchers of all time. The flame-throwing right-hander was a statistical marvel, with more strikeouts (5,714) and walks (2,795) than any other pitcher in history. Ryan threw seven no-hitters, giving him three more than the next closest pitcher, Sandy Koufax who had four. Only six pitchers have even thrown at least three no-hitters. - Ryan, Koufax, Cy Young, Larry Corcoran,, Bob Feller and Justin Verlander. Ryan also threw for twelve one-hitters and eighteen two-hitters. He holds the all-time record (min. 1000 innings) for the lowest hits-per-nine-innings mark. Ryan. is he only pitcher with at least 5,000 strikeouts. Ryan pitched for 324 wins. He successfully pitched into his mid-40s. Ryan was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. Jerry Koosman: The Mets retired Koosman's No. 36 Jersey, honoring him as the best left-handed pitcher in franchise history. He recorded a 3.09 ERA across 12 seasons. He paired with Tom Seaver to carry the Miracle Mets to the 1969 World Series Championship and then Koosman helped deliver another pennant in 1973. Koosman debuted with the Mets more than 50 years ago after a stint in the Army. He finished his first year in the league second in Rookie of the Year voting to Johnny Bench. He is the fifth Met to have his number retired. CONDITION: B (see guide). Very Good to Excellent Pre-owned Condition. Ungraded. Please refer to photos provided. Some of the auction items that I purchased over the years, I really needed, and many other winning auction items (like 100 pairs of chopsticks - REALLY) after some embarrassment and family criticism, have made for a good story. It is my sincere goal to never embarrass any buyer, and to attempt to make every buyer who purchases one of my listed auction items more than satisfied. All of the auction items (whether pre-owned or brand new) come from a clean, pet-free, smoke-free, and mold-free home. I will always try and address any criticism or complaint in a prompt and thorough manner. I have procrastinated listing items on eBay long enough and now it is time to say goodbye to some of my family's belongings. Happy Bidding!!!
