Description: This is a 7/8 Inch Lithograph (Litho) Pinback Button, which I believe is in really great shape, especially for a Litho, because the painted image on the pin can easily scratch, chip or scuff, since there is no protective covering. This pin was issued and sold circa 1966 - 69 by the conservative student group, the YOUNG AMERICANS FOR FREEDOM (YAF) to raise funds and support for its opposition to the anti Vietnam War and left - wing protestors and flag burners, and to support loving America and not burn it. The pin, a light blue color, is referred to as the YAF Blue pin. The handout from the California Young American for Freedom, shown only for illustration and authentication purposes, explains the reason for and significance of the Blue pin. The Young Americans for Freedom was founded in 1960 as a coalition between traditional conservatives and libertarians on American college campuses. The inaugural meeting of Young Americans for Freedom was held at William F. Buckley, Jr.'s childhood home in Sharon, Connecticut.Liberalism and radicalism dominated campuses from the mid-1960s until the early 1970s, primarily because of the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War.
