1/96 Sea Witch Clipper Ship (33” Long!) Lindberg #70812 Shrink Wrapped MISB

Description: I have to clear some space on my shelves (and this one takes up a lot of space!), so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! Lindberg Models was one of the classic model companies in the US before the market shrank and was taken over by excellent and innovative overseas players. This is the classic kit of the Sea Witch clipper ship that had a 10-year career transporting goods and passengers between Asia and the US. During this time, she set the record for fastest passage from Hong Kong to New York which stood from 1849 until 2003! There are a handful of these on eBay (getting rare and hard-to-find), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship to you very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web: The Round 2 company has picked up the Lindberg line, along with several notable others (like MPC, AMT and Polar Lights). Unfortunately, the Round 2 site makes no mention of this kit. It has been released by Lindberg a few times since 1979 with this being the latest run. Aside from the fine box art and a link to a project gallery, there is not much here. Len Roberto did a solid Build Review on the modelingmadness.com site when it was released as kit #813. He goes into the history of the ship, including an interesting sailing log. He lays out the construction of the kit, saying it went together pretty easily. As was my experience with the Cutty Sark over 40 years ago, he said that the hardest part was the rigging. In his Conclusions, he penned: “I love clipper ships and large-scale plastic kits are scarce. This one is a good choice- not too hard to build and paint and rigging just takes patience.” This kit is in an enormous, gorgeous box about 32” x 19” x 6”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with the original shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with white, brown and black plastic parts along with metal chains, paper flags and rigging thread. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid and actual shipping. Since the box is so big and weighs over 7 pounds, it would not be fair to charge flat rate shipping, as I usually do. I will let eBay figure the cost to ship as inexpensively as possible (unless you specify otherwise). If you get overcharged by eBay, I will refund the difference.
