1954 FE Olds and Son Special L-15 Tenor Trombone

Description: Straight from our brass (and silver) instrument repair shop, our USED horns are brought back to life...All major dents are removed, joints re-soldered (if needed), patches repaired (if necessary) and the slides reworked. Our horns may be buffed, but all are hand polished to a good shine and are in good playable condition. For the collector who is looking for an instrument; we try to keep the original parts whenever possible; if the playability is good, we feel it should be left to the buyer's discretion to replace parts as desired. We are happy to answer any questions asked. #32/2016Up for sale is a 1954 FE Olds & Son 'Special' Tenor Trombone. Manufactured in Los Angeles, Calif. Dual bore .485/.500 chrome plated nickel silver inner slide tubes, with a 7.5" diameter yellow brass bell flare. The serial numbers on the horn are #131xxx, all matching. There are a some small 'dings' on the bell and a bit of slide rash evident on the bell. There is light scratching throughout. Please see the pictures for overall good condition. The slide action is very good; the slide tubes have been cleaned and honed, therefore, there may be some residual slowness at first play, but will get better with use. The stockings are in good condition with some small flaking which does not affect play. The horn has good compression, good power and plays well at all volumes. **Please note that the slide lock has been repaired/modified at some point and is not original. See pic. This instrument is not lacquered; therefore, this instrument may have to be polished periodically (we recommend using Weiman METAL Polish). This trombone comes with a mouthpiece(which may not be the one pictured) and is shipped in a used case. The 'Special' has been considered by some as an Intermediate player, but would play well as either Intermediate or as a Professional. This is a nice playing horn and has a very good response, slots well with solid intonation and nice power-- a very good jazz horn. Great for the serious Intermediate or even Professional.
