This is an ORIGINAL 71 YEAR OLD, new old stock, unworn, French Indochina / EARLY VIETNAM WAR, PARATROOPER Denison Smock with the beaver tail.Item is an extremely high quality and detailed garment.NOT A REPRODUCTION.This was the next to the last year of the FRENCH INDOCHINA/ Vietnam War. ("Officially" ending May 7 1954).As things progressed these uniforms were coveted by early U.S. CLANDESTINE FORCES and Vietnamese alike. (And also pretty much anyone that wasn't "officially" supposed to be there).Has *BOTH ORIGINAL "AILEE" zippers with ORIGINAL leather ties on the end of each! These particular zippers were only made during this time period.*One zipper is the "Gun pocket" the other is the garment center zipper.Item has ALL ORIGINAL bakelite type buttons, interior smock clasp, cinch waist adjustable belt buckles, ventilator rivets, STAMPS, etc...*Review ink stampings on inside right breast and back of collar (photos).Material is in perfect shape with vibrant colors, clean, no smells or odors, maybe some minor dust.BEAUTIFUL.Today these first series examples are absolutely impossible to find, yet alone, NEW OLD STOCK. *(Often in military clothing, sizes extra small and extra large may not get issued without having a matching sized person and can become shelved in milsurp storage remaining unissued).The sizing on this is much larger than average (approximately size 50) but by its purpose can accommodate a smaller size without looking too awkward. Owner is a size 46 chest and it wears nicely.Measurements:Shoulder to shoulder 25"Length 32 1/2"Sleeve from shoulder down 25"*Some notes:THIS particular early variant is almost collarless in its fashion and sports a unique "Grandad" type collar - likely to be accompanied by a Balaclava type head garment.(These were patterned after WWII BRITISH Denison Smocks in which there was much variety).Also the loose fitting width in the arms near the wrists allow the wearer the ability to roll up jacket sleeves easily.They also have the interesting detail of metal ventilator rivets in the armpit area.This style of Camouflage pattern is very popular, and has been copied and used even through today (albeit without tail) and examples also reproductions are common... but a 71 year old original in unworn condition is beyond scarce and is an HISTORICAL reference item.*NOTE: Selling "as is" AND as a "used" item.
