A: This callable 12 year Treasury bond from Nazi Germany was issued in 1937 for the amount of 500 ℛℳ by the Reich Debt Administration (Reichsschuldenverwaltung, RSV). The 4½% interest was paid semiannually. In the last six years of their term lotteries were held in which number pairs between 00 and 99 were drawn. All notes from the year of issue being drawn, of any series, ending in those numbers were redeemed. The terms read, in part, "One sixth of the allocation of this series will be drawn in each of the years 1944 to 1949. The drawings are carried out in such a way that in the years 1944, 1945, 1947 and 1948 17, in each of the years 1946 and 1949 16... All treasury bills from each series whose number has one of the pairs of digits drawn in the last two digits (tens and ones) are considered to have been drawn..." You will hold history in your hands.
