Description: I have come across a collection of items signed by classical musicians - concert programs, actors - playbills, and politicians - letters and ephemera. These items were collected from the 1930s to the 1960s. None of the signed items have been authenticated, but all are consistent with other examples of the autographs easily found online. I will be posting them individually over time. This listing is for a concert program signed by JOSE ITURBI, CLASSICAL PIANIST. It appears that the signature is in pencil. The program is for a performance for the concert season, 1939-40 (this season identified in pencil on back cover bottom) sponsored by the Civic Music Association. The 4 page program (including front and rear covers) does not identify the location of the concert, but a website for the Civic Music Association of Des Moines, IA, provides a list of highlighted performers from its inception in 1925 to the current time. Jose Iturbi was highlighted for the 1936-37 concert season, but not the 1934 season. If this program is for the Civic Music Association of Des Moines, he also performed in 1934. The program is in VERY GOOD CONDITION, with no other markings. On the performer from Wikipedia: "José Iturbi Báguena (28 November 1895 – 28 June 1980) was a Spanish conductor, pianist and harpsichordist. He appeared in several Hollywood films of the 1940s, notably playing himself in the musicals Thousands Cheer (1943), Music for Millions (1944), Anchors Aweigh (1945), That Midnight Kiss (1949), and Three Daring Daughters (1948), his only leading role."
