Hommel, in court here while she told an amazing story, saying: "I am the mother of 3 children, but I never was a wife in fact to the father." She continued: "I was married to a Mr. Shelley at the time, but we had no children." An attorney asked her whether Raphael Corcoran was the father. She replied: "Yes. His children and my children were given to me by a marvelous scientific practice accomplished by a Detroit physician and with Mr. Shelley's full consent." She declared that she told Dr. Hommel of the situation after she divorced Shelley and was engaged to marry Dr. Hommel. The strange testimony was brought out in Mrs. Hommel's suit against Dr. Hommel over division of a $500,000 estate. How science gave 3 children to Mrs. Mate Hommel, although she had never been a wife to her former husband, James A. Shelley, was told by her today in a surprising court testimony. Mrs. Hommel revealed her well-guarded secret in court today where she is suing her second husband, Dr. Wesley J. Hommel, Hollywood physician, for division of alleged community property worth more than $400,000. Mrs. Hommel stated that Raphael Corcoran was the father of her children but not in the natural way. But through a marvelous scientific practice accomplished by a Detroit doctor and with her former husband's consent. Photo shows Mrs. Mate Hommel as she appeared in court today with 2 of her so-called scientific children, left to right, Gail, 13 years old, Mrs. Mate Hommel, and Jane 15. Photo measures 7 x 9 inches.
