Description: Texas coastal seascape, ca. 1940. It is unframed and signed twice lower left. Image 14 ¾ x 20” There is a bit of shelf wear on the lower left corner causing some play in the paper but does not affect the image. You can see a crease there upon very close inspection. Eleanore Roth (1902-1975) was a watercolorist, painter, printmaker, muralist, craftsperson, and teacher. She studied with Harry Anthony De Young, Elliot O’Hara, and Millard Sheets. Roth moved to Harlingen in 1933. She specialized in watercolors and taught art locally. She was a founding member of the Rio Grande Valley Art League. She had a long and extensive exhibition career from the 1930s to the 1960s from Texas to California. One of her exhibited painting in the Rio Grande Art League annual exhibition in 1940 was “Sea Grasses”. This may be it.
