Description: Running 1930s vintage mens rolex wrist watch reference 2280. This is commonly referred to as a boy sized watch today due to the 30 mm diameter case, retailed as a men’s watch in the past. The railroad track dial is faded but appears to be free of marks and legible. The hour and sub second hands appear to be of blued steel. The case has scratches and appears free of significant dings and pitting but unknown if the case had been polished at some point in the past. The acrylic does have tarnishing and scratches but does not appear to be cracks through the acrylic. The interesting aspect of this watch are the soldered fixed bars. This was a common practice during WW2 as soldiers brought their quality timepieces with them at the start of the war and did not want to risk spring bars popping off…one could only wonder. These could be drilled out or remain to preserve the watch’s history.
