Description: 1918 Large Scale British Military Topographic Map of Ramleh Area Egypt (now Israel) This very rare large-scale military map came from the estate of a British officer who served in India and Egypt. The map is marked: "7th Field Survey Co. R.E. E.E.F. (Aug. 7th, 1918)", (Egyptian Expeditionary Force) "1st Edition Provisional","Reprinted by the Survey of Egypt, May 1919". Also "SECRET" at the top-left corneretc. Overall size is about 28" X 20". Scale is 1: 40,000. As a topographic map, it includes many details, such as:- 5 grades of road from "Track" to "Road, Metalled"- 3 grades of railway- Minaret, dome, spire, tower- Cistern, pump, well, spring- House, grave, etc.- Contour lines, trees, slopes, sand, marsh, "river or wady", etc. Exceptional condition given its age. The map is linen-backed and has always been carefully folded. Minor soiling in a few areas. No visible tears or serious damage. Zoom in on photos for details.
