DUG, BUT DISCERNIBLE...RARE, SHOWS R-8 IN DUNN, SCHILLING, HOSKINS BOOKS $100 (BUT I HAVE SEEN SELL FOR $175 IN PAST).....USED IN HISTORIC 1906 MINING "SCAM" TOWN trade token once used as "GOOD FOR 12 1/2C IN TRADE" at a downtown business called "MONARCH BAR (SALOON)" once located in historic mining "scam" town of MONARCH, NEVADATHE OBSCURE MINING CAMP OF "MONARCH" STARTED IN 1906...AND IS CONSIDERED A "SCAM" TOWN WITH A PHONY "REVERAND" NAMED BENJAMIN BLANCHARD GOT INVOLVED WITH SELLING 2400 LOTS IN A TOWN THAT REALLY DID NOT HAVE PAYABLE ORE...TOWN WAS PROMOTED AND FIZZLED.....THATS WHY THIS IS ONLY TOKEN LISTED IN DUNN CATALOG FROM "MONARCH"...TOWN NEVER REALLY TOOK OFF Yes....this token is "dug"....in fact it was dug about 50 years ago in the town of Monarch.....it is missing a bit, but it is at least fully readable.......have seen this sell for $175 in past, and it books $100 in the old Dunn catalog with a rarity of R8THIS MINING SCAM TOWN IS ONE I HAVE NOT MADE IT TO....THERE IS VERY LITTLE LEFT, BECAUSE IT WAS NOT MUCH TO BEGIN WITH :)....A COUPLE OF REMNANTS OF FALLEN OUTHOUSES FROM WHAT I CAN GATHER The site of the historic mining "scam" town of MONARCH is located in NYE County, located sort of Northeast of Tonopah.....believe up in the region north of Manhattan Nevada Trade token is scalloped shaped, brass, about 28mm in diameter, and it was dug many years ago in Monarch, it has some damage but it is at least discernible. (please see pictures in gallery) I sure have seen much worse dug tokens...consider a nice town filler until a nicer one comes alongstarting bid way below book price....a decent filler for a token collection until Amazon restocks this particular token This is a ANTIQUE CIRCA 1906 ERA .....
