Description: First Edition, First Printing, published by Harper & Brothers in 1903. The author is identified as, By the Author of The Martyrdom of an Empress. This author is never identified by name (I couldn't find one), but the author of this Martyrdom book is Marguerite Cunliffe-Owen. This book is in VERY GOOD OR BETTER CONDITION. One wear issue is small moisture stain area on right edge of front board - it can be seen in the first listing photo. The boards show light corner wear, little to no edge wear. Pages with gilt top edges, deckled fore and bottom edges. No interior marks in 322 clean and solidly bound pages. MANY FULL GLOSSY PAGE B&W ILLUSTRATIONS. On Francis Joseph from Wikipedia: "Franz Joseph I or Francis Joseph I (German: Franz Joseph Karl, Hungarian: Ferenc József Károly, 18 August 1830 – 21 November 1916) was Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary, and the other states of the Habsburg monarchy from 2 December 1848 until his death on 21 November 1916. In the early part of his reign, his realms and territories were referred to as the Austrian Empire, but were reconstituted as the dual monarchy of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1867. From 1 May 1850 to 24 August 1866, Franz Joseph was also President of the German Confederation." B135
