Not numbered. 258 pages; eight fables in ribald verse parodies including Mandeville's Fable of the Bees and the Black Bird (about Stearn) addressed to the imaginary Society of the Makaronies. Maroon blind stamped cloth boards; spine lettered in gilt; top edge gilt; all other edges uncut. Boards worn with dent to front board; corners and spine ends bumped; gilt lettering dulled. Internally, binding and hinges firm; contents clean and unmarked. Paste downs and endpapers tanned; small tear rear endpaper; light pencil notation front endpaper.
