Sumner was a Professor of Social Sciences at Yale, the first Professor of Sociology at a University in the US. He is considered to have been a major influence on American Conservatism. Good condition, cloth covered boards show darkening. Book plate inside front cover, an owners stamp and some owners' inscriptions on first Page. The same stamp is on the title page. Inside the back cover is some paper remnants of a sleeve or other paper. A very few penciled lines next to paragraphs. Buyer pays cost of Media Mail. International buyers welcome.
