Description: "Robin! Robin!"A genuine Victorian music album for children, published by George Waterston & Sons, Edinburgh & London. A delightful children's music album with words and music by Alfred Scott Gatty, and illustrations by William Black ('WSB'). These latter include 6 full-page colour plates, and charming decoration around each page of music. A very scarce item: I can find no more for sale online at the moment, and there are only 2 copies listed in the JISC Library Hub, at Cambridge and the British Library. Both date it 1883 (there is an '83' on the first page of music, bottom right). Alfred Scott Gatty is well-known, not only for his work as a composer (his works were highly regarded in his day), but also for his career at the College of Arms at London, where he was a long-serving Officer of Arms. Size and number of pages: the covers measure approx. 27cms x 24cms. Unpaginted, but there are 6 pages of music, each with a full-page colour illustration. I believe the book is complete.Condition: This book has been carefully and sympathetically restored. There are signs of wear throughout, but this is a scarce ephemeral item, and it is now in a very acceptable condition. Please study the photographs, which I think give a good impression of its condition.
