The Annunciation Cathedral is an Orthodox church in the Moscow Kremlin in honor of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, located on Cathedral Square in Moscow. It was built in 1489 under the leadership of the Pskov craftsmen Krivtsov and Myshkin. According to legend, the wooden Cathedral of the Annunciation was built in 1291 by Vladimir Prince Andrei Alexandrovich. The first written mentions of a stone temple date back to the end of the XIV century. It was a one-domed, pillarless house church of a grand ducal family, made of white-stone blocks on a basement that has survived to this day. Presumably, the altar barrier of the church was decorated with frescoes depicting the saints. Then the temple was called the Annunciation "in the Tsar's entrance", "in the Grand Prince's court".
