Clifford Ambrose Truesdell (February 18, 1919 - January 14, 2000) was an American mathematician, natural philosopher, and historian of science. After receiving his Ph.D in mathematics from Princeton University in 1943, he spent the rest of the decade employed by the U.S. Navy to do mechanics research.
