Description: 1861 $5 The Bank of Scottsville, VIRGINIA Note - PCGS Fine 15 1861 $5 The Bank of Scottsville note from Scottsville, Virginia.This bank operated from 1854 until it closed in the 1860's. This note is printed with red die accents and signature protectors as well as a large "FIVE" protector in green! A milkmaid is seated on a log above the bank title. A small rendition of Vitus standing over a tyrant is printed to the upper right. George Washington's portrait is on the right and on the left is a Vignette titled "Boy & Birds Nest" engraved by James Bannister. This Civil War era note is PCGS Graded Fine 15 (Apparent) with "Stains; Repaired Edge Tears" noted. The upper right has a tape repair that is stained.
