Description: Here's a crude early square taper top torpedo soda or mineral water bottle that we dug several years ago from an 1840s outhouse privy pit in downtown St.Louis.....no embossing....Hand blown in mold, bimal....pointed bottom "torpedo" shape so wont stand upright on its own....crude applied taper top with squared edge....aqua...8 1/2"long....Excellent condition with no chips or damage of any kind. A dug bottle with some light inside haze. It would easily tumble clean to mint since the glass is not etched or pitted. Crude whittled glass. Dug with 1840s bottles such as R&J ADAMS..SMITH & FOTHERINGHAM, early blackglass, etc. A great looking early torpedo that was probably used by one of the St.Louis mineral water bottlers of the 1840s....
