Description: A mintage of nearly 3.5 million pieces makes this example easily available in grades through AU. At this level of preservation, however, it is rare with only six examples finer at the brown color and only five in RB across all major grading services combined. Smooth surfaces are evenly deep brown in color and highlighted by rose hues when rotated in hand. Intense luster lights up both uniformly bold sides. The denticles on the lower obverse have been repunched two (maybe three) times and protrude into the central devices. This fascinating abnormality is paired with light adjustment marks on the corresponding reverse. This is no doubt a very attractive example for the issue worthy of a lofty collection. - Draped Bust Cent
